Traffic congestion in Chennai: a major problem for Chennai residents in day to day life:

Although Chennai is one of the modern cities in India, it is facing a problem of traffic congestion. Many Chennai residents spend hours stuck in traffic in the city every day. This is a complex problem with many serious effects. There are many reasons why we suffer traffic jams every day. One of these is the rapid growth of the population. As a result of this, the number of cars and other vehicles is increasing annually.
The increase in the number of trucks and commercial vehicles also causes traffic congestions. These vehicles move very slowly, sometimes stopping in the middle of the road to unload goods, and blocking traffic. Road works are another major problem that can lead to streets being very crowded.Traffic congestion includes many effects in road. One of the most important effects is parking problems. People find it difficult to park their cars especially in the malls and other shopping places in Chennai. Long delays in reaching office to work are another result which leads to less productivity from employees. More accidents takes place as people become frustrated or angry due to the traffic jams.
Pollution in the city worsens as a result of traffic congestions and the city becomes a less attractive place to live. Some shops are forced to close in the city and asked to relocate in the malls or to the other buildings which provide parking facilities in the city. For example the street shops in Pondy bazaar in Chennai were taken out and they have been relocated in one new building by the government of Tamil Nadu. This has helped the people to avoid traffic in that area. Vehicles moves peacefully in that area after all the shops were taken out. The pavement is empty for the pedestrians to walk easily while they were finding it difficult to walk in pavement earlier.
Although Chennai has good roads and modern infrastructure, it is suffering from traffic problems. There is no simple solution to this problem because it has many causes, but the effects are damaging both the city and the people who live there. The one step that can virtually eliminate the traffic situation is to develop the traffic maintainance. People should obey traffic rules and should maintain if properly to avoid unwanted traffic jams. Every signal must have a traffic controller and a proper traffic signals.Almost 10% of the global road traffic accidents occur in India. Unfortunately in since 60 years since independence the authorities have failed to publish a National Highway code. Licenses are given to anyone who can demonstrate an ability to use the clutch-accelerator, consequently the motor driving schools teach just that and no more. Therefore traffic rulers have to be taught to every single driver in the country to avoid traffic congestions.

Empowerment of women and women rights:

Women are equal to men. Women are seen in every profession and organizations. Women has been working in every field, starting from television actors to the journalists, income tax officers, police officers, etc women has made her place. Now a days we can find in every single organization and companies there are women employees and women workers. They have been given equal opportunities as men. India is developing by means of empowerment of women. Women who are not allowed to go out for employment has started doing business in homes like making teddy bears, pots, accessories, designing clothes etc. In most of the parts of India women empowerment is playing a major role. But in how many states are women safer. Some parents find it risky for their daughters to work in night shifts as many incidents has taken place recently in Chennai and in other parts of the world. You might be listening to news, reading newspaper or magazine, you would have gone through such incidents and accidents with women in India. While any other article on women’s empowerment in India will take a look at our rich heritage and enlightened societies of the past where women were treated as equal as men, but in such articles they do not reveal that in the modern India, the woman has always been a second grade citizen, no matter what its esteemed leaders have said or done.Female feticide, rapes, eve teasing, street harassment, bride burning are some harassments women have been facing from long time. All these should be stopped completely for the betterment of living. And these harassment should be erased completely and women should be encouraged and should be given rights for education, business, employment etc.
A woman is dynamic in many roles she plays. The art of living empowers women to face the present challenges by providing tools and techniques that help to eliminate individual stress. A sense of community spirit is created that allows for women to face these similar challenges as a team rather than individually. The Art of Living also encourages women to find practical solutions to their challenges so that each one becomes self-dependent in their own right.

Status of power cuts problem in Tamil Nadu.

Power cuts have become the major problem for the life of people in Chennai. Everyday power cut for 2 hours in peak areas and in major cities in Chennai made a huge problem. Offices and organizations in Chennai suffered a lot due to power cuts. There are many other parts of Tamil Nadu where people are pacing the power cuts for 4 to 7 hours. In some of the cities in Tamil Nadu the power cut problem has brought down and the major cities faces less power cuts. People are happy with no power cuts in their area. Some of the people in Royapettah and Nungambakkam showed their gratitude for no power cuts in their area but in other cities the problem of power cuts have increased to nearly nine hours a day. In several parts of the state it has resulted drastically. Most of the Industries face a major loss in production as they suffer at least eight hours of load-shedding every day, apart from peak-hour restriction for four hours. Power cuts have affected the equipment and the quality of products which are produced in the industries and are also increasing the costs of the products. Recently in Chennai the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) expressed dissatisfaction over Tamil Nadu state discom's failure to stop power cuts. It asked the committee to do an in depth study of MSEDCL's model of reducing losses and doing away with power cuts and prepare a model to replicate it in Tamil Nadu. While MSEDCL has been successful in doing away with power cuts, extremely high power tariff is a major problem for the state. From many years both Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu state has faced power cuts but while Maharashtra has become power surplus now, situation in Tamil Nadu has not changed. In Maharashtra except in the very high loss areas, there is no power cut even in taluka places and other main areas in Maharashtra as distribution loss has reduced, the number of high loss feeders has reduced. But on the other hand, many areas of Chennai face power cuts during summer.Load-shedding remains a major problem for Tamil Nadu. High distribution losses and very poor collection efficiency is also a major problem for the state. Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has told Tamil Nadu's state discom to study the MSEDCL's model of reducing load-shedding. The Commission has decided to set up a committee comprising representatives of “Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporaton” (TANGEDCO), Tamil Nadu state load dispatch centre, TNERC's authorized consumer representatives, Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers' Joint Council and Coimbatore District Small scale Industries Association.

Garbage system in Chennai:

Solid Waste Management (SWM) is one of the key functions of any municipality. It is prominent as a public health and concern of the city. The Corporation of Chennai devotes a sizable proportion of its resources, time and labour to Solid Waste Management, in spite of the hundreds of tons of waste which go uncollected daily. The slums and low income settlements finds themselves chronically under-served.

The ‘garbage problem’ has become a major issue in Chennai which affects the public health to large extend and spreads diseases. Thousands in the city are dependent on municipal solid waste for livelihood as they pick the wastes and earns by giving the wastes for recycling.

Waste-pickers, itinerant buyers and scrap dealers together forms the longstanding network across the city as the informal sector in the waste industry who is responsible for most of the recycling that happens in the city and they are also responsible for reducing the city’s carbon footprint. But the contributions of waste pickers are unrecognized and the formal systems do not provide accommodations for them and as a result they are highly vulnerable to harassment and displacement.

There are some work centres which does research on garbage system and does promotion of sustainable and solid waste management in Chennai. These work centres aims in filling gaps in knowledge and understanding about waste to the public. It involves the management and some of the actors who acknowledge the public about waste management in the cities with both qualitative and quantitative research. Their primary focus sometimes is the role and contribution of ‘waste-pickers’ or informal waste workers in the city’s waste scenario.

Mahatma Gandhi had spent a lifetime trying to encourage cleanliness, and is known for his remark, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” Sixty years after India’s independence, cleanliness has been a major goal again. One of the biggest problems now in Chennai is the lack of toilet infrastructure, leading to defecation in public places. This poses serious health hazards. Laws that require all houses to have toilets have been ineffective and impractical. But this also has tobe seriously taken. Therefore solid waste management and recycling has to be taken into effort and has to be practiced by the people in Chennai to make Chennai a better place to live and make it the best developed city.

There is a tough competition between Andriods, wondiws and iOS system. All operating system is in a line of hard competition between each other increasing the features, and making it more user friendly for the customers. They are on a track of introducing the latest technology in the hands of every buyers. It has become very tough job for the buyers to choose one best in them as all operating systems posses their best and upgraded features to the customers. The Google Android system extended its gains over Apple's iphone globally in the last quarter of 2013, and Windows Phone grabbed the number three market position in a survey. Google and Microsoft mobile operating systems encountered a significant growth during 2013 as nearly one billion handsets were shipped throughout last year. Apple got only a modest boost in the fourth quarter from the release of its new iPhones, with sales up 6.7 percent compared with a year earlier.

Microsoft has much to do if it is to continue carving out a growing share of the smart phone market, not least driving the platform down to new entry-level price points, delivering innovation and new features, particularly at the high-end, and proactively working with, supporting and encouraging developers to commit to building compelling apps, and bring its app story closer to parity with its competitors," added Wang. Now it is up to the preference of the buyers all over the world whether which product they prefer to buy and which product do they find it user friendly.

The smartest way of learning in smart class:

The concept of smart class education is indeed a blessing to the students of the 21st Century. Smart classes uses all kind of interactive modules like videos, presentations, Graphics etc. This visually attractive method of teaching becomes appealing to students who are struggling with the traditional method of teaching in a classroom. In fact, smart classes are almost like watching movies as sometimes, animated visuals are used to teach a point. This kind of visual is both eye-catching and young students can easily relate with them. This is because the audio-visual senses of students are targeted and it helps the students store the information fast and more effectively. A classroom has students with varied power of understanding and learning, and studying from notes and other materials becomes difficult for some students. But the use of smart classes and modern technology eases the learning process for all students.

It is a new vision in education. Internet and e learning devices can make class room environment extremely amazing. Teaching through computer, internet and multimedia devices will be a common thing in future. Several institutes are making their classroom smart and modern. They are working on "Smart School Project". In modern e learning and online education based system, the smart class and smart school are not an unknown thing, because in a smart class there will be computer enabled education system. Smart class provides a platform for online e class. It is now referred as “White Board e Evolution" in education.

As we are living in the age of internet, education is also going to be online. In this environment the effective e-learning and online education is the need of this time. Use of internet in schools and education institutions has become normal now-a-days and it is now not only a dream but has also become a necessity of time. A smart class consists of computers, projectors, internet connectivity and other multimedia devices such as home theatres or speakers, mike etc. The role of teachers inside smart classrooms is modified in such new environment. In beginning the smart class will launch a pilot project then the experience and result of these pilot projects will leads to future planning.

India offers a big opportunity to growing technology:

Technology continues to become more and more a part of everyday life for humanity. Technology plays an important role in day to day life for all people. Without technology people finds it difficult to manage things. Technology has given man a easy way to live their life. With the use of mobile phones we can communicate easier with any person in the world, with the use of internet we can surf anything we would like to know and acquire more knowledge. Technology has a list of positive contributions towards society including entertainment, communication and making everyday tasks easier.New information and communications technologies in particularly with high-speed internet are changing the lifestyle of the people and the way companies do business, transforming public service delivery and democratizing innovation. With 10 percent increase in high speed Internet connections, economic growth increases by 1.3 percent. The mobile platform is emerging as the single most powerful way to extend economic opportunities and key services to millions of people.
But it is acceptable fact that technology comes with both positives and negative effects. In the classroom, negatives out ways the positive effects. Technology help in classroom by making the fundamental things quicker like using white boards instead of chalkboards and organizing grades instead of marks but technology has a greater negative effect also. Technology has made it so easy that virtually any student can become a good student without any effort. In this generation the Google answers has become the key to success within the classroom. Downloading the right apps in the mobile and tablets helps the students to get quick answers for any kind of questions. Now, with the right apps a C student can easily become an A student without becoming any smarter. From a negative aspect technology has become a disappointing factor for many students.
